Welcome! This section of the site is dedicated to those who want to take on the role of Narrator. As the Narrator in Dark Days, you play a crucial part—not just in setting the scene and drawing players into the island continent of Lathen, but also in guiding the characters and environments that bring the story to life through your collective choices and creativity. You know your players better than I ever could, so you’ll know when the rules need a little bending—or even breaking. And that’s not just okay; it’s encouraged! Think of the rules as more of a framework or guideline. I’ve designed the mechanics to be flexible, and while there is an overarching campaign, you and your players might decide to explore entirely different paths. The story is yours to shape.

While it's entirely possible to diverge from the main campaign, it’s still a good idea to understand its momentum and at least be aware of the key events that shape Lathen. To help with this, I’ve created this section to lay out the story for you, so you can plan accordingly. The campaign is divided into chapters, each presented like a fantasy novel, detailing the key characters and their actions within the story. Whether your players are directly or indirectly involved in the campaign, it’ll be up to you to figure out where they fit in, what influence they have, and how the story might need to be adjusted based on their actions.

The chapters are designed to provide you with as much information as possible, but I’ll also include cliff notes for each chapter, for those who may not have the time to read through everything. This way, you’ll have the tools you need to keep the story flowing smoothly, no matter how your players interact with it.

I'm currently working on the tutorial story in preparation for the upcoming play test in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, several chapters have already been written, and I'll be adding cliff notes for each of them within the next few days. This way, you'll have everything you need to dive into the game and get a feel for the story as I continue to develop and refine it.
